Tuesday 24 June 2008 | ASPA EXCHANGE

Guest Speaker: Mr Martin Sime - Chief Executive, Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO)

Martin Sime heads up the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO).

A twenty year veteran of the sector, he joins us at an interesting stage for his members. At a time when the Scottish Government says it expects the voluntary sector to help deliver the skills and wellbeing agendas in "hard to reach communities", and the Local Government Concordat means funding for services is less certain than ever - what role should not-for-profit organisations and charities play in delivering policies on the ground. SCVO is acknowledged to be one of the most engaged of the various organisations involved with the Parliament?

Their website workwithus.org is a respected model for the provision of on-line campaigning, fundraising and marketing services, while SCVO's Policy Officer Network is highly regarded as a support system for policy people in voluntary organisations across Scotland.

Date: Tuesday 24 June 2008
Time: 6 for 6.30pm - drinks and refreshments
Location:
RICS (Council Room B), 9 Manor Place, Edinburgh EH3 7DN (MAP)
